01Who operates Scholes
Scholes is an AI presentation workspace operated by Lucas Los Arcos, an individual based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. These Terms apply to scholes.ai and the Scholes application. “Scholes,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator, and “you” refers to the person using the service.
By creating an account or using Scholes, you agree to these Terms. If you use Scholes for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept them on its behalf. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
02Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement to use Scholes. Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.
Authentication is provided through Clerk. Access may require verification steps. You may not share an account in a way that bypasses plan limits or another person’s access permissions.
03The service and AI output
Scholes helps you research, structure, generate, edit, and export presentations. Features, available models, supported formats, usage limits, and processing times may vary by plan and may change as the service develops.
AI output can contain errors, invented statements, outdated information, or material similar to output generated for others. Review facts, citations, calculations, rights, and suitability before using or sharing it. Output is not professional legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice.
We do not promise that every request will succeed, that output is unique or copyrightable, or that the service will be uninterrupted. We may make reasonable maintenance and security changes. If a material change affects a paid subscription, we will provide notice where required by law.
04Your content and permissions
As between you and Scholes, you retain your rights in the prompts, documents, images, brand assets, and other material you provide. Subject to applicable law and third-party rights, you may use the output you receive, including commercially. This does not transfer ownership of Scholes software, templates, trademarks, or third-party material.
You grant us permission to host, process, reproduce, transmit, and display your content as needed to operate the service, provide the features you request, maintain security, and resolve support issues. This includes processing by the service providers described in our Privacy Policy.
Only submit content you have permission to use and disclose to those providers. Avoid uploading sensitive personal information or confidential material that you are not authorized to process. Keep your own copies of important material and exports.
05Acceptable use
You may not use Scholes to:
- Break the law, infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, or upload malicious content.
- Commit fraud, impersonate others, or create content that unlawfully threatens, exploits, or harms people.
- Access another user’s data, bypass authentication or usage limits, probe vulnerabilities without authorization, or disrupt the service.
- Resell access, scrape the service at scale, or automate requests in a way that overloads the system or circumvents your plan.
We may restrict activity or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, legal obligations, or nonpayment. We will explain material restrictions where feasible and lawful. Contact support if you believe a restriction was a mistake.
06Subscriptions, credits, and cancellation
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually, as shown at checkout. Paddle processes purchases as merchant of record; its checkout terms, payment methods, tax treatment, and payment privacy practices also apply. The final price, currency, applicable taxes, billing period, and renewal details are shown before purchase.
Paid subscriptions are purchased from Paddle.com, our authorised reseller. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Lucas Los Arcos supplies the Scholes service and provides product and technical support.
Your purchase is with the Paddle entity identified in its Buyer Terms and checkout. Those terms govern the payment transaction; these Scholes Terms govern use of our service. Paddle's Privacy Policy and Refund Policy also apply to the purchase, without limiting the additional Scholes refund rights below or mandatory consumer rights.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You authorize recurring charges for the billing period selected at checkout. You can cancel renewal through the billing controls in Settings or by contacting support. Ordinary subscription cancellation generally preserves access through the paid period; account deletion closes access as described below.
You can also manage cancellation through Paddle's customer portal, the link in your purchase receipt, or Paddle buyer support. Cancel before the next renewal to prevent another recurring charge. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Credits are usage allowances for Scholes features, not money or a stored-value balance. Plan and usage limits are shown in the app. Credits are not transferable or redeemable for cash, and account deletion forfeits unused credits, subject to mandatory legal rights. Export anything you need before closing your account.
We will disclose pricing changes before they apply to your renewal, with notice and cancellation opportunities required by applicable law.
07Refunds
Our Refund Policy explains eligibility, request methods, and cancellation.
You may request a full refund of your first paid purchase, whether monthly or annual, within 14 calendar days of that purchase. This is an additional refund guarantee offered by Scholes. Send the request to support@scholes.ai using the email associated with your account and, when available, your order reference.
Renewal payments are reviewed case by case. Contact us promptly if you believe a renewal or another charge was incorrect. This does not limit any rights under the payment provider's terms or refund policy, or applicable consumer law.
For Paddle purchases, you can also request a refund through Paddle buyer support or the help link in your receipt. We coordinate refunds we approve with Paddle; Paddle issues them to the original payment method where possible. Processing times depend on the payment provider and your bank. Where Scholes, Paddle, or applicable law provides a higher level of refund protection, that protection applies.
Cancelling a subscription or deleting an account does not itself issue a refund. You can still contact support about an eligible purchase after deletion. This policy does not limit any refund, withdrawal, or other consumer right required by law.
08Closing and deleting your account
You may request account deletion in Settings → Account → Delete account, or contact support@scholes.ai. The automatic flow requires confirmation and may require identity verification. Once a request is accepted, access closes and the deletion process starts. It cannot restore your deleted content.
The process cancels subscription renewals and removes your account content and authentication account. Cleanup continues in the background so active processing and previously issued upload links can expire safely. Shared material that another user is entitled to retain may remain available to that user.
We retain limited records where needed for billing, tax, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or to prevent deleted data from being recreated by late callbacks. Provider records and backups may follow separate retention periods. See our Privacy Policy for details.
09Third-party services and rights
Scholes relies on external authentication, hosting, payment, search, AI, and document-processing services. Their availability and applicable terms can affect features. External websites, search results, images, and other referenced material remain subject to their owners’ rights. A link or generated citation does not establish permission to use that material or our endorsement of it.
10Responsibility and limitations
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement. You remain responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use output.
To the extent permitted by law, Scholes is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, and its total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for Scholes in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law, and do not exclude liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or any liability or consumer protection that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11Applicable law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, except where mandatory laws in your place of residence require otherwise. Contact support first so we can try to resolve a dispute. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear disputes; these Terms do not remove any mandatory consumer right to bring a claim in your local courts.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. We may update these Terms and will change the date above. Material changes will be communicated through the service or email where appropriate or required. Changes will not retroactively remove rights that have already accrued.
